AFTER HOURS AND EMERGENCY CARE
Emergencies

Same Day/Next Day appointments
When unexpected illness and injuries happen, we do our best to book you into a same day/next day appointment. These appointments can not be booked online. Our team triages requests every morning so if you feel your concern can not wait, please call for a same day appointment.
After Hours Clinic
Our doctors are part of a team of 35 doctors called the Speed River FHO. This group runs an after hours clinic 365 days a year. This clinic is for URGENT concerns that cannot wait to be seen by your family physician. It is not for long standing health concerns or for those who are looking for more convenient hours.
The clinic is located at 649 Scottsdale Drive, Unit 103 (ground floor behind the pharmacy). Parking free (bring your code into clinic to be validated)
Clinic hours
Monday through Friday: 6:00pm to 8:00pm (final registration at 7:45pm)
Weekends and Holidays: 10:00am to 1:00pm (final registration at 12:45pm)
We ask that you use this clinic instead of other Walk-in clinics. This keeps you care within our team and our team in the loop! (Did you know most walk-in clinics don't send any information to your family doctor?)
MIssed Appointments and NO Shows
When you do not come to your appointment another patient misses out on the chance to be seen. As a result, we bill for no shows and last minute cancellations (less than 24h) for all appointment types including phone and video. You will receive a bill for $35-75 dependent on visit type.
If you need to cancel for reasons you can't control, please call to let us know and discuss whether or not the fee can be waived.
NO tolerance policy
Being a patient in today's system is hard but so is being a health care provider. Our clinic needs to be a safe and welcoming environment for all patients, providers and staff. Hope Health Centre will not tolerate any of the following:
- aggressive or abusive language such as yelling, threatening, or swearing
- aggressive, abusive or threatening behaviour such as throwing, intimidation, or refusal to leave the property when asked
- discriminatory, sexist or racist language such as demeaning statements, offensive jokes or innuendo
whether directed at staff, providers or other patients. The no tolerance policy applies to both in person and phone encounters.
Failure to comply with this policy will result in being discharged from the practice, in compliance with CPSO policy
Guelph Family Health team
Hope Health Centre is part of the Guelph Family Health Team. Some FHT team members will see you right in our clinic. Other FHT team members are centrally located.
FHT team members include:
- Nurse practitioners as part of the regular care management team
- Dieticians for advice about nutrition and diet
- Mental Health Workers to help support you in tough times
- Primary care nurses who educate and manage chronic diseases
- Diabetes care guelph
- Anticoagulation/INR clinic
- Psychiatry consultations
- Chronic pain program
- and more
